“Elephant conservation is of the utmost importance to us, and the elephants’ welfare is our main goal.”
Located on 30 rai of lush jungle near the famous beaches on the west coast of Phuket Thailand, the Phuket Elephant Nature Reserve is an educational, sustainable, and eco-friendly elephant conservation sanctuary providing a safe home to overworked and tired elephants rescued from the Thailand tourist industry.
As a pioneer in eco-tourism, our elephants have come from elephant riding parks, circus shows, the logging industry, street begging, and other tourist attractions where they have often been exploited and neglected and welcomed into our natural jungle environment to live a protected & peaceful life.
We provide the highest standards in elephant welfare achieved by our close partnership and gold star accreditation with the Asian Captive Elephant Standards (ACES), an independent enterprise that provides best practice standards for the welfare, living, and working conditions for all elephants engaged in tourism.
By providing conservation through tourism, we provide domesticated Thai elephants with a better home, away from the abuse and cruelty suffered in many of the popular elephant tourism attractions such as elephant riding, elephant bathing, elephant circus shows, and more.
We strive to build a natural environment with no single-use plastic and a high emphasis on sustainable living, reducing waste, and looking after our planet and animals in the best way possible.
Our Elephant Dung Recycling Center, hydrotherapy pool, nature jungle hike, herbal treatment area, and massive overnight elephant shelters are just some of the special ways of achieving this goal.
At the Phuket Elephant Nature Reserve, we invite visitors to come and learn about our beautiful gentle giants and observe and look after them in our stunning natural jungle elephant sanctuary in a sustainable manner that eliminates stress while providing a real connection and experience to our visitors
All money raised from visits is used towards rescuing elephants, providing elephant food, providing veterinary care, supporting the local Mahouts, and staff as well as constructing land and infrastructure for the elephants to live on.
We guarantee a visit that will leave you educated and inspired with a huge sense of appreciation and gratitude for the elephants, one of the most intelligent, graceful, and largest land animals alive today.
Join us today and experience what many say is “an experience of a lifetime that they will never forget!”
See you soon!
The Phuket Elephant Nature Reserve was founded in 2019 by a passionate group of knowledgeable experts in the elephant welfare field.
With decades of collective experience working with elephants throughout Thailand, the Phuket Elephant Nature Reserve was built with the goal of providing a safe, inspiring, and sustainable sanctuary for rescued elephants.
At the same time, enabling visitors to enjoy a fun range of educational activities with the elephants in their natural environment.
With the initial construction completed the Phuket Elephant Nature Reserve opened in early 2020, only to close again a little more than 2 months after opening due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
We re-opened again in June 2021 and have rescued 3 beautiful elephants, Lotus, Bow, and Thonglor, and are now, more determined than ever to fulfill our goal of providing a safe and loving home to as many elephants in Thailand as possible.
We hope you will come to visit and join us on our journey!
Thank you.
